In 10-13 of March 2009 representatives of our developer team visited the Netherlands for the invitation of Advistaal (http://www.advistaal.com) structural design and engineering company mainly dealing with steel and marine structures. During the very successful visit the ConSteel was demonstrated at the office of Advistaal, at the Technical University of Delft and at Bouwen met Staal (Dutch Steel Construction Institute). At Advistaal some engineers have already been using the time limited version of ConSteel downloaded from our website, and found it very impressive and efficient compared to other software products used for analysis and design of steel structures. At the TU Delft the main points of the theoretical background of ConSteel was discussed with professor Frans Bijlaard one of the leading researchers in the development of Structural Eurocodes. Professor Bijlaard expressed his appreciation about ConSteel and informal agreement was initiated for the further collaboration primarily in terms of introducing ConSteel as a suitable tool in the education of steel design according to Eurocodes. The next day demonstration at Bouwen met Staal was similarly successful, the solid opinion of the members of the institute was that there was a great opportunity for ConSteel in the Dutch steel construction market. Accordingly the developer team was invited for publication in the journal of Bouwen met Staal and for presentation at the National Steel Construction Day the largest yearly event for the steel industry in the Netherlands. Based on the positive feedback from both the academic and industry sides Advistaal indicated its interest to be a ConSteel distributor in the Netherlands and as a first step to purchase some licenses.
